A roundup of our 2022 awards
Tilbury Douglas has had a great year with multiple and varied award wins and nominations. We’ve done a roundup of all the awards we’ve won in 2022.
November 2022
Building Better Healthcare Awards
- We won three awards:
- Best Carbon Reduction Initiative – Red Kite View
- The judges said, “This is a shining example of an all-encompassing sustainable project which could and should, be replicated in the future”
- Estates and Facilities Team of the Year – Tilbury Douglas and Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
- One of the judges shared, “As a Director of Estates myself, I will be taking a considerable amount of information from this work and will be encouraging my team to embed these practices going forward”
- Clinician’s Choice (Special Award) – Red Kite View
- Best Carbon Reduction Initiative – Red Kite View
Constructing Excellence Awards
- Two of our projects won awards:
- Integration & Collaborative Working – Red Kite View
- The project demonstrated the ingenuity of the construction industry and how a project full of unexpected challenges can be successfully delivered by finding solutions through true collaboration
- Civils Project of the Year – Hessle Foreshore Tidal Defence Scheme
- The completed scheme has been met with overwhelming positivity from all stakeholders and funders with regard to its functionality and its sensitivity to its setting
- Integration & Collaborative Working – Red Kite View
H&V News Awards
- Tilbury Douglas Engineering won two awards:
- HVAC Contractor of the Year – Tilbury Douglas Engineering (TDE)
- TDE was recognised for the way it had grown and developed following some turbulent years, as well as its response across many fronts to the pandemic
- HVAC Project of the Year (Over £0.5m) – Bradford Royal Infirmary
- The judges chose our Bradford Royal Infirmary project as it “demonstrated HVAC engineering at its very best”
- HVAC Contractor of the Year – Tilbury Douglas Engineering (TDE)
North East Young Professionals Awards
- Savanah Benwell won the Young Apprentice of the Year Award
- The judges were impressed by Savanah’s commitment, determination and drive to succeed which has seen her successfully complete her HND and HNC and progress on to study a degree in Civil Engineering

Healthcare Estates IHEEM Awards
- Our Red Kite View project won the New Build Project of the Year award
- Our approach embraced UK and international best practice, including lessons learnt from other exemplar Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) units
Education Estates Awards
- We were crowned major Contractor of the Year, for our outstanding work within the education sector
- Our Red Kite View project in Leeds won the Pupil/Student Experience award

Explore Offsite Awards
- Tilbury Douglas Engineering won the Best Use of MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing)/Pod Technology Award for their work on the Walsall Manor Hospital Urgent and Emergency Care Centre project

- We won the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Award
- This recognises our commitment to attracting, retaining, and developing a diverse and skilled workforce
- We also won two awards for the A69 Bridge End Junction project:
- Highly Commended – Civils Project of the Year
- Highly Commended – Client of the Year for National Highways
Constructing Excellence East Midlands Awards
- Nick Parish won the Future Leader Award
- Nick has achieved a lot of success at an early stage in his career; notably, leading the successful delivery of Cedars Academy in the East Midlands
Design in Mental Health Awards
- New Build Project of the Year – Red Kite View

G4C North East Awards
- We won the Commitment to Employee and Training Development award
- We were recognised as the winner for our outstanding commitment to reduce the skills gap and make the construction industry an aspirational career choice
Constructing Excellence West Midlands Awards
- Our Midlands team won the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Award
- The award was given for the team’s approach and policies to health, safety and wellbeing, particularly regarding planning and handling on recent large-scale demolition projects at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital

Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) Robert Stephenson Awards
- Our Wolsingham Sewage Treatment Works (STW) Growth project team won the Large Project Award for projects over £5m
- The award category was for projects over £5 million for demonstrating excellence in civil engineering for works constructed in the North East region, and is the first time a water project has won

Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents Awards
- Tilbury Douglas Construction and Tilbury Douglas Engineering received an Order of Distinction Award, making it 22 and 21 years of consecutive Gold Awards, respectively

- Our Infrastructure team (Water North) won theInnovation Award for the Wolsingham Sewage Treatment Works (STW) Growth Improvement Project and was also ‘Highly Commended’ in the Civils Project of the Year category
