Health, safety and wellbeing

At Tilbury Douglas, health, safety and wellbeing are fundamental to how we deliver excellence. We are committed to creating supportive environments where everyone can perform at their best.

Our Health, Safety and Wellbeing team works in partnership with project teams and our supply chain to set clear standards, manage risk proactively and drive continuous improvement across all our operations.

Tilbury Douglas has been awarded The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Patron’s Award 2025, recognising 25 consecutive years of achieving Gold in the RoSPA Health and Safety Awards. This milestone reflects our long standing commitment to the highest standards across every project and workplace.

Our initiatives strengthen accountability, encourage open conversations and embed positive behaviours across our teams and supply chain:

We-Care

We-Care is a company-wide and long-term approach to HSE culture which reflects our commitment to looking after one another. It promotes respect, inclusion and personal responsibility, reinforcing that everyone has a role in keeping themselves and others safe. We-Care has five simple habits for successful safety management.

Changing the conversation

Our Changing the conversation programme is built around our Group values and We-Care safety habits. This initiative aims to strengthen our health and safety culture through greater transparency, collaboration, behavioural change and building better relationships.

The initiative utilises the Cultural Calculator app to gather feedback through short surveys, providing colleagues and supply chain partners an opportunity to highlight risks, share observations, and contribute to a collective understanding of safety on our sites.

This encourages a culture of openness and learning. By encouraging honest dialogue and moving away from blame, we strengthen trust, improve behaviours and deliver better outcomes.

Wellbeing campaigns

We run regular wellbeing campaigns throughout the year, supporting physical health, mental wellbeing and positive lifestyle choices across our workforce.

Together, we are building a safer, healthier and more resilient Tilbury Douglas

Our approach to health and safety management is fully supported by our health and safety policy statement.
