Building future skills through LEGO education: Tilbury Douglas partners with Getech to inspire the next generation

At Tilbury Douglas, our mission extends beyond construction – we are building brighter futures. That’s why we’re proud to announce our partnership with Getech, delivering a series of interactive LEGO® Education events using the innovative SPIKE™ Prime platform.
What is SPIKE™ Prime?
LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime is an advanced educational technology tool designed to engage school students in hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) learning. By combining the creativity of LEGO® bricks with coding through Scratch and Python, SPIKE™ Prime helps learners explore problem-solving, critical thinking, and teamwork in a fun, tangible way.
Why this partnership matters
Through this partnership, Tilbury Douglas is bringing an interactive, curriculum aligned learning experience to schools across the UK. The sessions are structured to reflect the National Curriculum, integrating the Gatsby Benchmarks for good career guidance and the Skills Builder Framework, ensuring that each activity builds both academic understanding and essential employability skills, such as communication, creativity, and collaboration.
This approach directly supports our commitment to social value, providing meaningful engagement that connects young people with the world of work, while nurturing the next generation of innovators, engineers, and problem solvers.
Hands on learning in action
Recent events, including sessions at Cambrai Primary School in Catterick and Milford Junior School in Somerset, showcased the incredible enthusiasm and creativity of students.
At Cambrai, pupils worked in small groups to build and program hip-hop dancing robots, bringing their creations to life through movement and music. Teachers noted how the experience boosted students’ confidence and teamwork, with one commenting: “The kids absolutely loved it! Wow, the photos look great. We feel very lucky!”
Meanwhile, at Milford Junior School, Year 6 pupils took on a LEGO® hopper race challenge, using the SPIKE™ app to build and code their racers. Guided by Tilbury Douglas team members and apprentices, they experimented with design variations, improved performance, and competed in a final race. One student reflected: “I loved the programming part because you could change things to make it your very own.”
These sessions not only encouraged STEM exploration but also allowed students to see how engineering, technology, and construction connect to real-world applications, inspiring curiosity and career aspirations.
