Lucy Davies, Social Value and Sustainability Director at Tilbury Douglas, named winner of prestigious Inspiring Women In Construction & Engineering Award
Lucy Davies, Social Value and Sustainability Director at Tilbury Douglas, has won the Contribution to Gender Diversity Award at the 2024 Inspiring Women in Construction & Engineering (IWCE) Awards.
The winners of the Inspiring Women in Construction & Engineering Awards were crowned in front of the industry on Tuesday 17 September at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London.
The awards, which celebrated the role models and organisations empowering women in construction and engineering, were hosted by Construction News, Ground Engineering and New Civil Engineer.
Construction News Editor, Colin Marrs, said: “The IWCE Awards go from strength-to-strength, demonstrating the momentum in the movement for greater equality of opportunity within the construction and engineering sectors.
“We had a staggering number of entries this year. Each and every one is another important chip away at the idea that construction is a man’s job. By coming together with male allies at our conference and awards ceremony, we are proud to provide a hub of support and exchange.”
The Contribution to Gender Diversity category was “open to any inspirational person, inclusive of all genders, who has gone above and beyond to promote gender diversity through their own work within the construction or engineering sector”.
By creating and chairing our Women @ TD Better Together network, Lucy has improved and modernised our workplace, leading the way and contributing to increased gender diversity.
As part of the selection process, Lucy was interviewed by the awards panel and was chosen for her contributions to our workforce where every individual should feel valued, where gender diversity should be celebrated, and where our collective pride in our workplace inspires others to join us on our journey towards inclusivity and excellence.
Mark Buckle, Technical Director at Tilbury Douglas, shared: “I’m incredibly proud of Lucy for her outstanding work in championing gender diversity within Tilbury Douglas and across the construction industry. Lucy’s passion and leadership are not only driving change within our company but also influencing positive shifts throughout the industry. This recognition is a testament to her hard work and commitment to fostering a more inclusive environment for everyone. Well done, Lucy – this achievement is truly deserved.”
In total, 21 winners were crowned, recognising the women and teams that stand out as exceptional and showcasing both individual and organisation wide initiatives.
