Tilbury Douglas achieves major milestone in transforming Wirral’s Urgent and Emergency Care Facility
Tilbury Douglas, a leading UK building, infrastructure, engineering and fit-out business, has handed over the latest phase of Arrowe Park Hospital’s multi-million pound urgent and emergency care facility, with an advanced resuscitation area. This marks a significant milestone for the Wirral University Teaching Hospital project, as it is the first clinical section to be opened.
Strategically located near the ambulance entrance for rapid patient transfer, the resuscitation area includes eight specialised rooms designed to meet both patient and clinical needs. Additionally, a new staff floor has been built, providing urgent and emergency care teams with a dedicated entrance, workspace, and wellbeing area.
The design maximises natural light, minimises energy consumption, and optimises thermal comfort to meet BREEAM standards.
The new development is the largest undertaken at Arrowe Park Hospital since its construction in 1982. Clinical staff have been closely involved in shaping the facility and there is ongoing consultation with the public throughout the work.
