Tilbury Douglas appointed as preferred bidder for the Newstead Older Persons Independent Living Scheme in Sheffield

Tilbury Douglas has been appointed by Sheffield Council to develop the final design and cost stage for its Older Persons Independent Living (OPIL) project on the Newstead site in south east Sheffield. This is in preparation of the submission of final project approval, anticipated in early 2023.

Procured via the YORbuild Major Works Framework, the project comprises 141 new build OPIL housing units, which will include both one and two bed flats, as well as associated external works and services.

Working with Sheffield City Council and Peak Architects, the design is environmentally sustainable with future adaptability built in. It incorporates the creation of both indoor and outdoor social and communal spaces, such as a community hall for programmed activities and a café with external courtyard for both residents and the wider community to use.
