Tilbury Douglas awarded part of Grand Challenge 3 project at CPI’s flagship innovation centre
Tilbury Douglas, a leading UK building, infrastructure, engineering and fit-out business, has been appointed to deliver facility integration work as part of the Grand Challenge 3 project for CPI.
Known as Grand Challenge 3 (GC3), the project is one of a series of ‘Grand Challenges’ designed to tackle industrial hurdles currently limiting the pharmaceutical industry.
This £1.4 million contract is to be delivered at CPI’s £88 million Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre in Renfrewshire, a landmark facility originally constructed by Tilbury Douglas.
Tilbury Douglas, working with Baker Hicks, is now delivering a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) compliant solvent and waste solvent transfer system and storage facility. Works are carefully coordinated to maintain uninterrupted research within CPI’s live research and development environment.
The GC3 programme involves complex requirements including GMP compliance, technical coordination and alignment with equipment qualification. Tilbury Douglas is applying its sector expertise to ensure a high-quality, compliant outcome with minimal disruption.
This latest appointment reinforces the long-standing relationship between CPI and Tilbury Douglas. The business is currently on site delivering the £20 million Oligonucleotide Manufacturing Innovation Centre of Excellence, further demonstrating its technical capabilities across the life sciences sector.
Barry O’Hagan, Regional Director – Scotland at Tilbury Douglas, said: “We’re pleased to continue our work with CPI on this latest project. Our team understands the level of precision and coordination needed to deliver complex technical infrastructure within live environments. This project supporting GC3 is another opportunity to demonstrate the value of early engagement, integrated design and delivery excellence in the advanced manufacturing sector.”
This latest award further reflects Tilbury Douglas’ success in delivering complex, high specification facilities for leading research and innovation organisations.
