Tilbury Douglas secures patent for its innovative Connect Configurator platform
Tilbury Douglas, a leading UK building, infrastructure, engineering and fit-out business, has secured a patent for its innovative Connect Configurator, which is a game changing digital platform to accelerate the design process.
The patent covers a method and system for repopulating 3D building designs by taking the model files from one project and automatically rebuilding them within another. This is enabled by the Connect Configurator, which can import 3D models, drawing from a web-based 3D kit-of-parts library, and assemble multi-storey concept designs based on repeatable room layouts.
This now protected digital workflow allows designs to be reused, standardised, and quickly rebuilt within different project contexts, and allows for the continuity of a concept design into the next stages of the project life cycle.
Alan Moylan, Head of AI & Solutions at Tilbury Douglas, commented: “This patent benefits Tilbury Douglas and our clients by securing a unique digital capability that accelerates and standardises early-stage building concept design. It reinforces our leadership in digital and industrialised construction by protecting technology that directly enables platform-based design approaches, which offer clients more dependable programme timelines, improved cost certainty and greater quality consistency.”
