Tilbury Douglas to host key industry event at UK’s first purpose built Biophilic school – a school built with nature
Tilbury Douglas, a leading UK-based building, infrastructure, engineering, and fit-out company, is set to host a key industry event in mid-February at the UK’s first purpose built Biophilic school – St Mary’s Catholic Voluntary Academy in Derby. The symposium will focus on the school with a theme of ‘a school built with nature’.
The school was delivered in collaboration with the Department for Education (DfE). This event, which will be attended by key education and construction figures, will have keynote speeches centred around how the Biophilic design translated into an excellent learning and teaching environment.
In addition, the University of Derby will be presenting early PHD findings from the project, along with the Tilbury Douglas Engineering team, who will be presenting on post-occupancy data for the Net Zero Carbon school.
Simon Butler, Managing Director – Building Central at Tilbury Douglas, commented: “St Mary’s Catholic Voluntary Academy, part of the St Ralph Sherwin Catholic Multi-Academy Trust, is a multi-award-winning school and a showcase project for both the DfE and Tilbury Douglas, therefore we are pleased to be opening up its doors to share the innovations and best practice with the wider industry.”
