Tilbury Douglas to lead construction of Garden Mills Refurbishment Project for Bradford College

Tilbury Douglas, a leading UK building, infrastructure, engineering and fit-out business, is set to lead the construction of the Garden Mills Refurbishment Project for Bradford College, which will deliver a new higher education facility.

The project to refurbish the five-storey 1900s building, will see it transformed into flexible higher education STEM training and educational facilities for digital, science, and allied health subjects. Procured via the Procure Partnerships framework, the works will include the replacement of windows, building fabric refurbishments, lift refurbishment and replacement, new MEP installations, statutory compliance works and partial demolition works.

The newly refurbished building will include two new flexible science laboratories, a prep-room, six higher education digital IT labs, an ophthalmic dispensing suite, clinical suite, a real-life work environment with consulting/testing booths, and a collaboration space alongside academic teaching spaces.

Chris Webb, CEO for Bradford College, said: “The Garden Mills project is an exciting development that will create cutting-edge facilities for higher-level STEM teaching in one impressive five-storey building and help provide an outstanding student experience.”

Paul Ellenor, Regional Director – Yorkshire and North East at Tilbury Douglas, said: “As a highly experienced education construction contractor, we will work collaboratively with the College to deliver this refurbishment project. Once complete, the space will provide dedicated specialist facilities to support the delivery of higher-level skills, focusing on digital, science and ophthalmic studies.”
