We’ve been awarded a £5.4m contract to transform Wrexham Magistrates’ Court

Interserve Construction has been awarded a £5.4 million contract by the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) to refurbish and transform Wrexham Magistrates’ Court in North Wales.

New investment by the MoJ, which will enhance facilities at Wrexham Magistrates’ Court to ensure the building will be made more secure and accessible for disabled users, is part of the Government’s £142m funding to improve courts across England and Wales. The investment will create up to 50 new jobs in the local area over the duration of the project.

Interserve Construction will create a new, state-of-the-art, two-storey ‘custody suite’, which will securely detain defendants and keep the public safe. Further modifications are proposed to improve accessibility for disabled users, including the installation of a new lift so people can access the court more easily.

Phil Shaw, Divisional Director, Interserve Construction, said:

“As a long-term partner to the Ministry of Justice we are delighted to be working as part of the Government’s programme to improve courts and prisons this year.

“This latest scheme further underscores Interserve Construction’s capabilities and expertise in delivering public sector work across education, healthcare and justice.”
