Five days into the first UK Lockdown, we were selected to build the Nightingale Hospital for the midlands region to be located in halls 6-12 of the National Exhibition Centre (NEC), Birmingham.
Scope of project
The confirmation came on Saturday 28 March and by the morning of Monday 30 March teams and supply chains were mobilised and on site.
The construction team worked tirelessly to meet the initial phase one deadline in just 13 days, handing over the first phase on 10 April 2020.
Phase two of the project commenced before the handover of phase one and included an additional 384 beds (114 of which were intensive care beds) – this second phase was completed in just 14 days and handed over on the 27 April 2020.
