We completed a new bus station replacing an existing bus station to facilitate the extension and development of the town centre.
The project included the construction of a new 12 bay, steel portal frame bus station for Telford Shopping Centre to replace the existing station. The new building comprises a cladding roof liner with an aluminium soffit. The rear SFS wall is covered in porcelain tile whilst the remaining elevations are half height glazed screens. Works also included Highways alterations to the surrounding area.

Challenges and solutions
- Tight and congested site located in an operational bus station
- Careful planning to ensure no disruption, including segregation from the public and temporary walkways
- Extensive service diversion
- Stakeholder engagement and liaison with specialist contractors
The works were phased to ensure the existing bus station was kept live and that no disruption was caused to the busy shopping centre, discussions with all stakeholders and careful planning was vital, a temporary walkway to the shopping centre was constructed whilst works were ongoing.
We liaised closely with the Senior Citizens Transport Forum keeping them fully up to date with plans and progress.
