Tilbury Douglas Construction Starts Work on New 80 Place Sheffield Academy
Tilbury Douglas (formerly Interserve) construction has started work on a new 80 place Discovery Academy in Sheffield.
The new 80 place special free school will be run by Nexus Multi Academy Trust, providing education and support for children with autism spectrum disorder and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs in Sheffield.
Works include the demolition of the former Norfolk Park School and the construction of the new single storey, part dual-storey school building, including a multi-use games area.
The new building is due to complete in April 2022.
Tilbury Douglas has successfully delivered construction projects in primary, secondary, tertiary and higher education facilities. This includes master plans and estate strategies, new and refurbished teaching blocks and specialist units for pupils with specials needs.
This latest project continues Tilbury Douglas partnership with the Department of Education and local authorities.
John Gittins, Divisional Director at Tilbury Douglas, said:
“We are delighted to start work on the Discovery Academy project for the Department of Education, building on our strong education portfolio within the Yorkshire region.
“At Tilbury Douglas, we are committed to investing in the communities in which we live, and work and we are looking forward to delivering this vitally important project.”
