Tilbury Douglas leads construction of new Urgent and Emergency Care Facility at Arrowe Park Hospital, Wirral
Tilbury Douglas has started the construction of the new Urgent and Emergency Care facility at Arrowe Park Hospital, on behalf of Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
The new facility is designed to create an efficient patient flow, with those that are attending either the Emergency Department or the Urgent Treatment Centre entering through a single point, which will ensure patients are provided with the right care, in the right place, at the right time.
Janelle Holmes, Chief Executive at Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, said: “The new facility will completely transform Wirral’s only emergency department and also the provision of urgent care for local people.”
“This is the biggest investment at Arrowe Park Hospital since it was built over 40 years ago and shows our commitment to enhancing the care we provide to those who are in most urgent need,” she continued.
Phil Shaw, Divisional Director for the North West at Tilbury Douglas, commented: “Utilising our extensive experience within the healthcare sector, we are looking forward to working with Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to deliver a new urgent treatment centre that will provide an enhanced environment for patients and visitors.
“Being part of such a significant investment is a real honour for the team working on this scheme. This is why they are focusing on giving back to the local community.”
The Tilbury Douglas team has already hosted four Meet the Buyer events with Wirral Chamber and Constructionline to provide opportunities for local businesses ensuring the Wirral pound is spent locally.
The team has been using the company’s ‘Give a Day of Your Time’ volunteering initiative to work with Cradle, a charity resident at the Trust, providing support to people suffering from pregnancy loss.
Tilbury Douglas is passionate about recruiting and developing talent for the future. The project has already recorded 64 direct apprentice weeks to date and the Early Careers recruitment intake for 2023 is now live with 114 exciting opportunities. Tilbury Douglas offers a range of different apprenticeships across: Civil engineering; Construction management; Mechanical & electrical; Quantity surveying; Design management; Estimating; Planning; Sustainability and Social Value.
In addition, to address the high suicide rate for men working in the construction industry, Tilbury Douglas has focused on mental health and wellbeing with safety stand down initiatives taking place during Mental Health Awareness Week, Suicide Prevention Day and Blue Monday.
Another example of social value is the team delivering Build UK’s Open Doors event taking place on 15th March. The event will welcome over 60 students from Liverpool John Moores University, inviting them behind the hoarding to showcase the careers available in construction.
