Tilbury Douglas Starts Work on New Oncology Ward at Royal Preston Hospital
Tilbury Douglas has started work on the new Ribblesdale Oncology Ward at Royal Preston Hospital in Lancashire.
The new 24-bed ward will provide a more aesthetically pleasing and comfortable environment for patients and their visitors. The project will be partially funded by the Rosemere Cancer Foundation.
Tilbury Douglas has pledged to support the Foundation to raise additional funds outside of their budget, further enhancing patient experience.
The contract follows Tilbury Douglas’s recent success in delivering Ward 5 to support Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s response to the coronavirus crisis. The project is expected to be completed by September this year.
The Royal Preston Hospital provides a full range of hospital services and has around 700 beds, operating theatre complex, outpatient suites and education facilities.
Phil Shaw, Divisional Director at Tilbury Douglas, said:
“The Tilbury Douglas team at the Royal Preston Hospital did an exemplary job delivering Ward 5 at short notice. The award of the Ribblesdale Oncology Ward project demonstrates the Trust’s confidence in our expertise and capabilities to support the NHS. We are looking forward to starting on site and delivering this vital facility for patients and the local community.”
“As a long-term contractor to the NHS, under several framework agreements, we bring considerable experience and wide-ranging capabilities to deliver even at the shortest notice as witnessed by our work in Preston and at Liverpool’s Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.”
